OPENING
Saturday, 9 August | 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM
The Emergence Exhibition brings together four exciting emerging artists whose diverse practices reflect personal journeys, cultural heritage, and lived experience. Curated to highlight creative voices on the rise, this exhibition explores themes of identity, place, and the beauty found in everyday life.
OUR ARTISTS
Onaree Perera, a 17-year-old artist, offers a window into her world through works inspired by quiet, present moments. Her pieces reflect the richness of unplugging and noticing the often-overlooked details of daily life as she navigates her teenage years.
Motoko Katsutu presents a multidisciplinary practice that blends traditional materials with contemporary expression. Working across acrylics, Japanese ink, pastel, calligraphy, sculpture, and immersive installation, her work invites viewers into layered sensory experiences.
Louis Dickins is a multidisciplinary artist whose raw, urban aesthetic captures the essence of inner-city life. A painter, writer, actor and filmmaker, Louis draws on streetlight shadows and vibrant characters to reveal moments of striking honesty and grit.
Aashna Pillai’s delicate illustrative work is shaped by her Indian heritage and Australian upbringing. Drawing on the rich traditions of Indian folk art, she reimagines cultural forms through a contemporary lens, offering a personal yet universally resonant visual narrative.
Together, these artists reflect the spirit of emergence — of stepping forward, being seen, and sharing one's story through art.
