Celebration Day of Acceptance + Respect is the culmination of Space2b’s 100 Stripey Monkeys program, a community inclusion project that has involved newly arrived migrants and community members working together over the past six months to make stripey monkeys from recycled materials. These soft toys remind us that everyone deserves a chance to be happy, safe and accepted.

International Cuisine at Vegilicious
Workshops: African beading, Indigenous basket weaving, Bollywood dancing & African head wraps.
Art exhibition: Flourish by Iranian artist Leila Ashtiani at 4Dverse.
Christmas market selling jewelry, handbags, clothing, giftware made by newly arrived migrants mentored by Space2b. The stripey monkeys will also be for sale and profits will support new migrant training programs at Space2b. Every fifth monkey made will be given to a child in detention.
Launch – 4pm at 4 Dverse by Pamela Curr, campaign coordinator at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and Tri Setyani from the Melbourne Artists for Asylum Seekers will accept the monkeys on behalf of children in detention centers and in community detention.
