APRIL 2023 - EID DINNER WITH FRIENDS

Eid is a very important holiday in the Islamic calendar. It is celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of Ramadan. Eid will begin in Australia on the evening of 21 April and what better way to join in the celebrations and learn more about this fascinating event than to join Space2b for a special Eid ‘Dinner with Friends’? The types and forms of the cuisine vary but you can always count on some customary delicious sweet treats. Our guest cook for Eid will delight you with both savoury and sweet traditional fare, explain the food and explain the unique traditions of this famous occasion. ‘Dinner with Friends’ is just that, and you won’t want to miss this very special evening.

FEBRUARY 2023 - AFGHAN DINNER WITH FRIENDS

Afghanistan is a strife-ridden country but is rich in traditions and social customs. Hospitality is very important in the Afghan code of honour. The cuisine is largely based upon the nation’s chief crops, cereals like wheat, maize, barley and rice. Accompanying these staples are dairy products (yoghurt and whey), various nuts, and native vegetables, as well as fresh and dried fruits. Think Kofta, Kabuli Pulow.  The traditional mode of eating in Afghanistan is on the floor but we will be substituting the large colourful floor cushions with chairs at Space2b. Space2b invites you to experience this very special Afghanistan Dinner with Friends.

OCTOBER - INDIAN DINNER WITH FRIENDS

In India, one of the most significant festivals is Diwali, or The Festival of Lights. Diwali is a five-day celebration that includes good food, fireworks, coloured sand and special candles and lamps. The festival represents victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. Join us for Space2b’s Diwali Dinner with Friends on October 27 when the Space2b gallery is transformed into our own magical Diwali celebration.

Ethiopia is located in the Horn of Africa, bordering Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, Eritrea and Djibouti. Ethiopia has a large population so Ethiopian cultural customs can vary greatly but Ethiopians are renowned for being welcoming, considerate and cooperative. AUGUST - SYRIAN DINNER WITH FRIENDS

Syria is home to one of the oldest civilisations in the world, with a rich and artistic cultural heritage. From its ancient roots to its recent political instability and the Syrian Civil War, the country has a complex and, at times, tumultuous history. Our guest Syrian chef is the owner of Flavours of Syria and our very good friend, Nayran Tabiei. Nayran will delight your senses with a three course Syrian dinner. She will explain the menu, the culture and traditions of a typical Syrian meal. This is a special evening and tickets are limited.
