Details: Join us in our beautiful creative workshop at Space2b located in St Kilda East to create your own woven wall hanging with Somalian born Muhubo Sulieman.Muhubo is a local Melbourne based artist currently exhibiting her work in our Space2b Gallery space as part of the Landed Exhibition.

This traditional craft of weaving is known as ‘Alool’ and incorporates various techniques of weaving used to create traditional and brightly coloured wall sculptures, rugs and bags.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside Mububo, surrounded by her stunning works currently on exhibition in our gallery. We will be using various fibres and grasses to create a special sculptural piece, unique to you to be taken home.

APPROPRIATE FOR : 10+ years old.

About Muhubo

Muhubo is from a small country town near Galkayo in Somalia and arrived in Australia in 2003.Her passion for craftmaking and preserving her cultural heritage continues to inspire her work, through the creation of brightly coloured hand woven rugs, bags and wall sculptures incorporating traditional Somali craft techniques.Currently exhibiting works in Melbourne Muhubo also shares this culturally rich knowledge through her teaching.
